FAQ

  • Do I have to buy my own equipment to join Fencing All Levels? Students are NOT required to buy their own equipment initially. I supply the foils and wrist straps. I have adapted my lesson plans to accommodate students without all of the safety equipment. However, if the student wants to participate in bouting or certain lessons the minimum safety equipment is essentials. Most beginning students require success completion of a few terms before their skills are developed enough for bouting or certain lessons. This allows students the time to decide if they wish to invest in this sport. In the meantime, students WILL learn all of the fundamentals of footwork, offense, defense, and counter offense.
  • What does 'hybrid' mean? For my classes hybrid means students can choose to come in person or join via Zoom for each class meeting. I email a Zoom invitation to all students at the beginning of each week.
  • What should I bring to the first night of class? Normally, I do not expect students to have supplies on the first meeting. We will discuss the supply list in class. I will have class supplies ready for any in-class exercises on the first day.
  • For the Acrylic & Oil Painting class, do I need to buy supplies for both? NO! You will choose either acrylic OR oil. Can't decide? We will discuss during the first meeting.
